Aging in place? Many ask what is that? Aging in Place is remaining in one’s home safely, independently and comfortably at any age. It means the pleasure of living in a familiar environment throughout one’s maturing years and the ability to enjoy the familiar daily rituals and the special events that enrich all our lives. It means the reassurance of being able to call a house a “home” for a lifetime.
To age-in-place you will probably need to modify your house as you mature to increase access and maneuverability. These modifications range from the installation of bath and shower grab bars and adjustment of counter-top heights to the creation of multifunctional first floor master suites and the installation of private elevators. The options are specific to each person and their living situation.
- Increase door and doorway sizes
- Install safety rails
- Replace faucets with lever handles or foot peddles
- Replace door knobs with door levers
- Build ramps
- Change floor plan to accommodate wheel chair access
- Lower light switches
- Installing fire strobes
- Create accessible kitchen cabinets and vanities
Please call to set up an appointment and Soper Services will complete an assessment of the clients’ home and make recommendations for modifications.
